Bug Fixes and a New Game Mode


I got into the codebase last night and did some segregation so I could put an end to breaking one play mode when I updated a different one.  I also built a "dark" version of the free play mode to see if folks like a moodier atmosphere.

I didn't really take on the issues with the UI.  For a quick fix, I just moved everything closer to the center of the screen.  Once I'm sure I've worked out all the bugs in the play modes, I plan to tear off the entire menu system and start over but that's an issue for another day.
